Hydrogen Peroxide Teeth Whitening- The Hottest new Beauty Trend: Here is what you need to know!
Hydrogen Peroxide Teeth whitening has come a long way from ancient traditions of wine and vinegar mixed with pumice or if you were a roman using urine to whiten! whitening your teeth used to be a sign of prestige and wealth
Today we whiten our teeth for many more reasons including: self-love confidence, oral hygiene weddings and life events teeth whitening services are much more accessible these days and more affordable than ever before.
Teeth whitening is the process of removing surface stains by using whitening gels composed of hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide. These gels work to remove stain by using an oxidation reaction to penetrate the deepest part of the teeth. Teeth are very porous and therefore allow for the penetration of the bleaching chemicals into the enamel. Other sources of teeth whitening agents can include whitening toothpastes which work much like pumice, with fine grit that is more abrasive than regular toothpaste alone, helping to scrub away the stains. This form of whitening takes longer to take effect, so results are not immediate. Teeth whitening using professional grade gels will remove the stains that you cannot brush away manually.

FAQ
HOW LONG WILL MY TEETH STAY WHITE FOR ?
This varies from individual to individual. It depends on how much staining foods you tend to ingest, or
whether you smoke or drink red wine often. The effects of whitening can last 6 month +.
HOW LONG SHOULD I REFRAIN FROM EATING STAINING FOODS?
I advise at least 24 hours but for optimal results it is advised up to 72 hours.
HOW OFTEN CAN I WHITEN MY TEETH
Whitening your teeth every 3-6 months will help you maintain those pearly whites.
WHY CHOOSE US?
Because whitening is considered to be cosmetic and therefore elective, it is not likely that your insurance
will cover any whitening procedures. That being said, avoid costly whitening procedures at the dental
office and save your money by getting professional whitening with me. I have 10 years of dental
experience, so you will get only high quality products that are safe on your enamel and on your wallet.
Plus $2.00 will be donated from each whitening session to a Canadian charity. (TBA)
HOW WHITE WILL MY TEETH GET?
Everyone’s teeth will lighten but the degree of whiteness solely depends on your personal dental history.
Those who have staining on their teeth produced by tetracycline or those who present with grey or purple
teeth produced by trauma to the teeth may not have optimal whitening results. We will take a before and
after photo to see how white we can get your teeth. Some individuals may see as much as 16 shades
brighter!
CAN I WHITEN MY TEETH IF I AM PREGNANT
Although the whitening gels are considered safe for most people to use, studies have not yet been done
in pregnant women so it is advised that they do not use whitening products.
WHAT KIND OF GEL DO YOU USE TO WHITEN TEETH?
All whitening products that we use come from a Canadian supplier, and all products meet Canadian
regulatory criteria. The gel is a hybrid peroxide-generating compound proven to be effective, safe and
gentle on your teeth
WILL MY TEETH BE SENSITIVE?
Some individuals may experience some mild tissue and or tooth sensitivity. This is normal and may vary
from person to person, and depending if you already have sensitive teeth to begin with. This sensitivity is
temporary and should diminish within a day
CAN I STILL WHITEN MY TEETH IF I HAVE SENSITIVE TEETH?
Yes you can still whiten even if you are more prone to sensitive teeth. I have lots of treatment options for
those who are concerned about sensitivity. We will work together to make a session that works best for
you. I definitely recommend my pre-whitening treatment that can be applied to the teeth before we begin
the session, this product enhances your whitening experience but also helps eliminate sensitivity by
keeping your teeth hydrated. It’s the perfect addition for any session.
WHO SHOULD NOT WHITEN THEIR TEETH?
Anyone that has active decay where the whitening gel is applied, or anyone who is pregnant should not
whiten their teeth. Also those who have veneers, crowns or composite bonded teeth where the gel will be
applied are not advised to whiten their teeth because the whitening gel is not effective and will not whiten
these surfaces.

PRE SESSION
When we first meet (either at my location or in the comfort of your own home), the first ten minutes will be dedicated to filling out a short medical history and treatment consent form so that I can get to know you and your teeth a bit better. At this stage we will make sure it is beneficial for you to have your whitening treatment done and to answer any of your questions. Whitening is not for everyone and the amount your teeth are able to whiten is totally dependent on your teeth. See FAQ’S for more info and commonly asked questions.
Once that is complete the session is almost ready to begin, but first I will provide you with a finger wipe to give your teeth a quick cleanse, followed by some floss to remove any excess plaque from between the teeth which may inhibit the whitening agent from penetrating your teeth.
Now your session is ready to start. This is the best part, you are now in relaxation mode. Kick your feet up, listen to a podcast or some music. I will insert the cheek retractors at this time, the whitening gel will be applied and the light will be placed over the gel for the selected amount of time. Depending on which session you chose there may be multiple applications of the gel during your session to achieve the optimal results. A pair of blue light blocking sunglasses will be provided during your session to protect your eyes from the bright light.
POST SESSION CARE
After your whitening session is complete you will want to avoid certain foods and drinks for a minimum of
24 HOURS UP TO 72 HOURS for best results.
